Tailored Philanthropic Giving

One World is uniquely positioned in the philanthropic world to connect donors with vetted grassroots organizations solving the problems of poverty, poor health, insufficient education, economic insecurity, and homelessness for children and young people in their communities. In addition to fiscally sponsoring a select group of organizations in Africa, Asia, and Central America, we also create dynamic opportunities for knowledge sharing within our member network and forge cross-network relationships that support peer learning and collaborative impact. The impact of your gift is magnified by One World’s supportive network structure.

We work with individuals and small foundations making large gifts ($100K+) to run grant application and reporting processes that match donors’ philanthropic interests (e.g., location, issue, population served, or service provided). Tailored philanthropic gifts must also contribute to the sustainability of One World’s supportive network structure.

If you are looking to make a smaller gift to support our network, please consider donating to our Resilience or Sustainability Funds, or talk to us about making a Matching Gift.

IMPACTFUL GIVING

Collaborative Grant-Making

In collaboration with the Rose C. Stone Family Foundation, One World developed a grants process to support children and youth affected by violence or conflict. Five grantees collectively served over 800 youth. Each organization demonstrated a fierce commitment to their communities, and the agility to face the challenge of COVID-19 head on.

For example, COMPALCIHT established agricultural business cooperatives with the grant funds. Recent political unrest and violence in Nicaragua has greatly suppressed the economic opportunities for the nation’s youth. In response, COMPALCIHT trained youth on farming techniques and small business management (pictured). The crops planted and harvested by the youth farmers helped feed the community during the pandemic.

RESILIENCE FUND

One World recently launched a Resilience Fund to provide members with a rapid infusion of resources to respond to crises, while preserving other resources for their essential programs. We will continue to offer grants to our member organizations from this fund, so that long term sustainability need not be sacrificed in times of crisis.

SUSTAINABILITY FUND

Obtaining funding for organizational efforts that facilitate sustainability can be very difficult. One World believes that organizations and the people who work for them are of paramount importance. Accordingly, Sustainability grants fund organizational systems and staff, so there is a strong foundation in place to support essential programmatic work. One World’s Sustainability Fund will provide flexible financial support that can be used to help Member Organizations build their organizations upon the pillars of sustainability.

MATCHING GIFTS

Matching gifts can be a powerful catalyst, inspiring generosity throughout large donor communities. In 2019, our member organizations raised $45K during the week of Giving Tuesday. All it took to inspire this generosity was a $10K matching donation!

The impact of this generosity on local communities is staggering. The St. Paul and Rose Orphans' Care Centre in Uganda used their Giving Tuesday matching funds to install a solar water pump (pictured), bringing clean water to children and families throughout the community.
